Is it permissible for me to visit my son's grave? I have heard some people say that if a mother goes to the cemetery before the sun rises, does not cry, and recites al-Fatihah, it is possible

The questioner : Can I visit my son's grave, since he has passed away? I have heard from some people that they say: if a mother goes to the grave before the sun rises, does not cry, and recites Surat al-Fatihah, her son can see her, such that the distance between them is like the holes of a sieve. And if she cries over him, he is veiled from her. What is the authenticity of this, may Allah reward you? And what is the ruling on women visiting graves? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : As for what you mentioned, that if a woman visits her son's grave on Friday before the sun rises, recites al-Fatihah, and does not cry, it is revealed to her so that she sees him as if she sees him through a sieve, we say: this statement is not correct. It is a false statement that should not be relied upon.
As for the ruling on women visiting graves, the scholars have differed on it. Some disliked it, some permitted it if it does not include any prohibited matter, and some forbade it. The correct and stronger position in my view among the statements of the scholars is that women visiting graves is forbidden. This is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
Allah's Messenger cursed the women who visit the graves, and those who use them as Masajid and put torches on them. لعن زائرات القبور والمتخذين عليها المساجد والسرج
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 320Da'if (Darussalam)
and the curse does not occur for a permissible act, nor for a disliked act, but the curse only occurs for a forbidden act. In fact, the well-known principle among the scholars requires that women visiting graves be among the major sins, because the curse was attached to it. And when the curse is attached to a sin, it becomes one of the major sins, as is the principle with many of the scholars, or most of them. Accordingly, my advice to this woman whose son has passed away is that she should increase in seeking forgiveness and making du'a' for him while she is in her house. And if Allah accepts that from her, the son will benefit from it even if she is not at his grave.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
