Prayer to the extent of one's ability

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 8817 )
Q3: My brother was afflicted with a severe illness that prevented him from speaking, but his heart remembers Allah whenever the time for prayer arrives, and his tongue stammers in the recitation. Should he leave off the prayer until he recovers, or should he pray in his current state?
A3: Your brother must pray according to his condition and to the extent of his ability, as long as he is of sound mind; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So fear Allah as much as you are ableفَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
and because of what is established from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can.إذا أمرتكم بأمر فأتوا منه ما استطعتم
Sahih al-Bukhari 7288
the hadith.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
