Directing some of the supplication to other than Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 9610 ):
Q1: If a person testifies to the words "La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadur Rasul Allah," and performs the prayer at the five times, but he directs some of the supplication to other than Allah the Exalted, is it obligatory for you to attend his funeral procession if he dies, or not?
A1: Supplication is a type of worship, and directing some of it to other than Allah is major shirk (associating partners with Allah) that takes one out of Islam. Allah the Exalted said:
And whoever invokes besides Allah another deity for which he has no proof - then his account is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.
[Al-Mu'minun 23:117]
And He said:
And do not invoke besides Allah that which neither benefits you nor harms you, for if you did, then indeed you would be of the wrongdoers.'"
[Yunus 10:106]
meaning: the polytheists.
And by this you know that it is not permissible for you to pray over one who does that, nor to attend his funeral procession if he dies and does not repent. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
