The third question of Fatwa No. ( 10806 ):
Q3: What is the wisdom in Allah's command to Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, the delight of his eyes, Isma'il ?
A3: He commanded him to sacrifice him as a trial and test of his sincerity in servitude and love for his Lord, and to raise his rank with the Exalted if he fulfilled it. And he did fulfill it, peace and blessings be upon him. The Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:124] the verse. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. [Allah] said, "Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people."
وَإِذِ ابْتَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَبُّهُ بِكَلِمَاتٍ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ قَالَ إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا
