The Whispers That Beget in a Person the Suspicion That All the Good Deeds He Does Are Done Out of Showing Off

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The twelfth question of Fatwa No. ( 8691 ):

Q12: I intend to pray, fast, and recite the Qur'an, and I try my utmost to carry out the commands of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, but a feeling comes over me that I do nothing except to be called a religious man. This feeling may cause me to abandon certain matters out of fear of it. How can I get rid of it?
A12: You must perform the rites of Islam in obedience to the command of Allah and seeking His reward, and do not pay attention to the whispers that come over you that your work is showing off (riya'), and fight against that as much as you can. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
