The second and fifth questions of Fatwa No. ( 5782 ):
Q2: What is the ruling on the book called [al-Burda al-Madhih] which is used in supplication in our country, and if I read this book, do I receive reward or not, and does reading this book reach the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as some people say, or not?
A2: It is better to read the Noble Qur'an and to remember Allah with the dhikr established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and to be content with that instead of reading al-Burda and the like, for worshipping Allah by reading it and reading things like it is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that has been newly invented. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 1718a , and in another narration: Sahih Muslim 1718b And on this basis, there is no reward in reading it; rather, in some of its verses there is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), such as:
