Slaughter at Specific Times of the Year
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7465 ):
Q1: What is the ruling on slaughtering at a limited time and a known period of every year, given that a large number of people believe that slaughtering on the 27th of Rajab, the 6th of Safar, the 15th of Shawwal, and the 10th of Muharram is a means of drawing near to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and an act of worship? Are these actions valid and indicated by the Sunnah, or are they an innovation that contradicts the correct Islamic religion, for which the doer is not rewarded?
A1: Acts of worship and other means of drawing near to Allah are based on divine legislation and are not known except through what is established by the Shari'ah.
There is no text from the Book or an authentic Sunnah that specifies the aforementioned days of those months for slaughtering, nor was this known from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Therefore, it is an invented innovation. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 1718a narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim . And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
