Fatwa number ( 7343 ):
Q: We often hear and read that the five daily prayers were made obligatory upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without any intermediary, and that this happened after he was raised up (peace and blessings be upon him) to the heavens. What has confused me, and what I want you to clarify and explain, is whether Allah (Mighty and Majestic) spoke to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) face-to-face, and if so, whether this is among his specific attributes (peace and blessings be upon him), shared with his brother Musa (peace be upon him), and whether the speech of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in this world is not exclusive to Musa (peace be upon him)? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good for us, and guide us to the hadiths narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A: Yes, the hadiths of the Mi'raj are explicit that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) spoke to His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and thus it is known that he (peace and blessings be upon him) is the one who spoke with Allah, just as Musa is the one who spoke with Allah. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
