The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : A person traveled to Jeddah to attend to some business, and he intended to enter the state of ihram to perform 'Umrah when he finished this work. Is it permissible for him to enter the state of ihram from Jeddah in this situation?

The Shaykh : No. It is not permissible for him to enter the state of ihram from Jeddah. He must, when his work is finished, return to the miqat he passed earlier and enter the state of ihram from there. For example: if he came by plane from al-Qasim and finished his work in Jeddah, he must return to al-Madinah to enter the state of ihram from the miqat of the people of al-Madinah, because he has passed it. If he came from Riyadh, he must, when he finishes his work in Jeddah, return to al-Sayl, which is Qarn al-Manazil, and enter the state of ihram from there. But I say, my brothers: Satan plays with the son of Adam. Why does he not enter the state of ihram from the miqat? And when he arrives in Jeddah, he goes up to Makkah, and within three hours he is returning? Is there any difficulty in this? He might say: My work starts as soon as I arrive. We say: Praise be to Allah. He should have made the journey earlier than this. Yes.
