What is the cure for one who has fallen into undutifulness to parents and sins, and has been afflicted with a trial, causing him to doubt the words of Allah, and we suspect that he has been touched by Satan?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : 3.

The questioner : The third question. This is a situation we are facing, O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : A young man was engaged in two sins: undutifulness to parents. He has two elderly parents.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : And he was, as we say, about eighteen years old, and he was very undutiful to them, I mean.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide him.

The questioner : And all his advice, even our brothers, the people of the Sunnah, advised him, but he did not accept the advice.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.

The questioner : So he was going astray in... and I am one of our brothers in Allah, I know what is not known...

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : He was, I mean, puffed up with pride, leaning on... greatly. He was engaged in some sins, so a trial befell him, may Allah protect us. Everyone knows about it. Satan’s whispers were imposed on him regarding the Qur'an. He began to doubt whether the Qur'an is the word of Allah or the word of someone else.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.

The questioner : May Allah protect us. Truly, O Shaykh, right now, frankly, we are afraid for him... So we asked the Shaykhs, of course, and they told us the cure is that he should seek refuge in Allah, the Qur'an, and the dhikr, and so on. But he did it, and he only increased in confusion. Frankly, I see... as if he has been touched by Satan. So what is the cure?

The Shaykh : By Allah, I have nothing but what I have heard.

The questioner : From what you mentioned.

The Shaykh : From what you mentioned.

The questioner : Yes, meaning his abandoning the sin.

The Shaykh : His abandoning the sin and turning to obedience, the obligatory duties and the required ones, then the voluntary acts from the recommended matters, such as reading the daily supplications.

The questioner : Meaning his abandoning the sin.

The Shaykh : In all the occasions in which those supplications are prescribed. Then at that time, His saying—Blessed and Exalted is He—will be realized in him:
Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
[Ar-Ra'd 13:28]
.

The questioner : Meaning, if the feeling of that doubt is removed, and he seeks forgiveness from the Lord of the Worlds, by the permission of Allah the Exalted, I mean.

The Shaykh : This is the cure.

The questioner : With Allah's permission.

The Shaykh : It is this.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : May Allah preserve you.

The Shaykh : You are welcome.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The questioner: ...

The Shaykh : Yes.
