Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Then, indeed, you, O you who are astray and deny the truth)
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Waqi'ah: 51] meaning after the resurrection [Al-Waqi'ah: 51] those who are astray in their deeds, so they do not act, and those who deny the news, so they do not believe, and may Allah protect us from that, [Al-Waqi'ah: 52] eating from a tree, this tree is of the type called Zaqqum, just as you would say a ring of iron, a door of wood, a wall of clay,His saying:[Al-Waqi'ah 56:52] from a tree of Zaqqum, "of Zaqqum" specifies the tree, and it is called Zaqqum because when a person—may Allah protect us from that—eats it, he swallows it with great difficulty due to the intensity of the swallowing; he does not swallow it easily. [Al-Waqi'ah: 53] meaning that they fill their bellies from this tree, even though this tree is bitter, foul-smelling, and ugly to look at, but because of the intensity of their hunger, they eat it just as a desperate hungry person eats dung, and just as one eats his own vomit, so they eat it with aversion,As Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Ibrahim: 16-17] they eat from this tree and fill their bellies with it, then a thirst comes to them, a very great thirst for eating, until they fill their bellies with what they dislike, and this is more severe in the punishment, we ask Allah for safety. Despite this, when their bellies are filled with this, their need for drinking increases,So how do they drink? Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Waqi'ah: 54] al-Hamim: hot water, they drink from hot water after having called for help for a long period,And Allah described this water by saying: [Al-Kahf: 29] And He, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Muhammad: 15] So reflect, my brother, on this! If they bring it near their faces, it scorches them, and when it enters their bellies, it cuts their intestines, and despite this, they drink it intensely,He says: [Al-Waqi'ah: 55] meaning the drinking of the wandering camels to water, which a small amount does not quench, so they fill their bellies, and may Allah protect us from that, from the Zaqqum tree, and they drink from al-Hamim. meaning: the drinking of the camels (al-Haym) the plural of Haimah or the plural of (Haymah) meaning: that they are extremely thirsty, so they fill their bellies, and their bellies are as in the authentic hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): (with them their water skin—which is the belly that fills with water—and their shoe) I ask Allah to protect me and you from the Fire. [Al-Waqi'ah: 56] meaning: this is their hospitality, unlike the believers, for their hospitality is the Gardens of Paradise. [Al-Kahf: 107-108] .
