Is it obligatory to make up the prayers of the days of menstruation, and is it permissible to wash only the hair? I want a ruling on this.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it obligatory to make up the prayers of the days of menstruation? And is it permissible to wash only the hair? I want a ruling on this.

The Shaykh : As for the prayer, yes, the answer to that is that the menstruating woman does not make up the prayer, by explicit text and scholarly consensus, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Is it not the case that if she menstruates, she does not pray and does not fast? أليس إذا حاضت لم تصلي ولم تصُم
And Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked, "What is the reason that the menstruating woman makes up the fast but does not make up the prayer?" She said:
That happened to us, and we were ordered to make up for the fast, but were not ordered to make up for the prayer. كان يُصيبنا ذلك، فنؤمر بقضاء الصوم، ولا نؤمر بقضاء الصلاة
Mishkat al-Masabih 2032
And on this basis, it is not obligatory for the menstruating woman to make up the prayer. As for the menstruating woman washing her head, there is nothing wrong with it during menstruation. What you have heard that this is not permissible is not correct. Rather, she may wash her head and her body and whatever she wishes. She may also use henna during her menstruation, and there is no blame on her for this. Yes.
