Is it permissible for a son to take from his father's money without his knowledge, and vice versa?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on a thief who takes from his father's money without his father's knowledge, or the reverse?

The Shaykh : As for a son taking from his father's money without the father's knowledge, it is not permissible; it is forbidden for him. As for a father taking from his son's money if he is in need of it, it is permissible, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
You and your wealth belong to your father أنت ومالك لأبيك
. If the father is in need of his son's money, he takes it, because as he (peace be upon him) said in another hadith:
The purest earnings are the earnings of a man from the work of his hand, and your children are part of your earnings. أطيب الكسب كسب الرجل من عمل يده وإن أولادكم من كسبكم
. So, if the father takes from his son's money without his permission, it is permissible, and the reverse is not the case.
