Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. A question for the women: A daughter married and her father is not pleased with her; is this marriage valid?

The Shaykh : Who contracted the marriage for her? This is problematic now. It is necessary to inquire about who contracted the marriage for her.

The questioner : The questioner...

The Shaykh : Here.

The questioner : The questioner...

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : If her father is angry, he should explain the reason. In any case, a woman is not forced into marriage; that is, a woman is not forced to marry a specific husband, even her father cannot force her, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
a virgin should not be given in marriage until her permission is sought لا تنكح البكر حتى تستأذن
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1107Sahih (Darussalam)
But if, for example, a man proposed to her and her father does not want this person, they look at whether it is because of his bad character or deficiency in religion. If so, the right is with her father, and he has the right to refuse to marry her off. If it is for other reasons and she desires him because he is a man of religion and character, and perhaps her father is one of those who does not want people of religion, and he refused and said, "Do not marry him," then here we say that she marries him herself, and that is what is required. And if she does not marry him herself, the closest people to her after her father marry him off. For example, if she has brothers, who marries him off? Her brothers. If she has no brothers but has paternal uncles, her paternal uncles. If the extended family refuses to marry him off because her father refused to marry her off and they said, "What do we have to do with disputes and quarrels?" then the judge marries him off.
