Look at the implied reference in "they see it" *** and we see it; what is its interpretation by explanation (Continuation of Ibn al-Qayyim's opinion on the issue)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said
"So look at the implied reference in 'they see it' *** and we see it; what is its interpretation by explanation"
"So today, by interpretation, is more fitting than 'this' *** which is realized for the near and the neighbors"
Very well.
"Look at the implied reference in 'they see it' *** and we see it; what is its interpretation by explanation"
Meaning, what is the interpretation that clarifies it. He said
"So today, by interpretation, is more fitting than 'this' *** which is realized for the near and the neighbors"
We read the verse:
(1) A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen (2) To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. (3) [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. (4) The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years. (5) So be patient with gracious patience. (6) Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
[Al-Ma'arij 70:1-6]
they see it يرونه
To whom does the pronoun refer? Is it the punishment, or is it today? Yes, Ibn al-Qayyim says it refers to today. He says
"So today, in interpretation, is more fitting than 'this' *** which is realized"
Why "for the near"? Because the pronoun refers to the nearest mentioned, it refers to the nearest mentioned. But we say in answering this that even if we say it refers to today, they see today as far and we see it as near. We say yes, even if it refers to today and not to the punishment, where does the punishment occur? In the day. So if the day is near, the punishment is near; and if the punishment is far, the day is far. And I hold that there is no difference between saying the pronoun refers to the day or refers to the punishment. Yes, so in every case, it does not indicate what Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) held. Rather, they see this day as far and we see it as near. Rather, they denied this day:
And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?"
[Yunus 10:48]
Or they see the punishment as far and we see it as near. Rather, they denied it and considered it unlikely. There is no difference. But what clarifies the meaning is that we say his statement:
in a Day, the extent of which is
[As-Sajdah 32:5]
Pay attention, is it connected to

The student: By "realized." The Shaykh: Yes, we say by "realized," meaning realized in this day. A questioner asked about a punishment realized for the disbelievers in this day, in a day whose measure is fifty thousand years. And the ascending of the angels and the Spirit follows his statement "the Possessor of the Ascending Stairways," and the speech is cut off with it. And even if we say that his statement "in a day" is connected to "ascending," it does not necessitate what Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) held, because it is permissible for the angels and the Spirit to ascend to Him on that day, meaning the Day of Resurrection. It is possible that the Possessor of the Ascending Stairways is where the angels and the Spirit ascend to Allah on that day, and there is no impediment. For the angels on that day may ascend to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) as Allah wills. And in every case, what Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) held indicates that no matter how far a person reaches in knowledge
