Explanation of the Book of Friday Prayer and the Two Festivals-06a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: 'Ubayd ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us from Hisham from his father from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:
Abu Bakr entered while two maidservants of the Ansar were with me, singing what the Ansar had recited on the day of Bu'ath. She said: They were not professional singers. Abu Bakr said: Are these flutes of Satan in the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? And that was on a day of festival. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Bakr, every people have a festival, and this is our festival.
.

The Shaykh : Her statement:
They were not professional singers. وليستا بمغنيتين
This indicates that there is no harm in singing occasionally for one who does not make it a profession. As for one who makes it a profession and a constant occupation, always and always, this is not praiseworthy.
This indicates a useful principle, even in acts of worship: some acts of worship, if done occasionally, are not blameworthy, but if they become a regular habit, they become blameworthy. For example, congregational prayer is a voluntary prayer that is permissible occasionally, but if people make it a custom, meaning that whenever they stand up for night prayer they pray in congregation, we say this is a religious innovation. Thus, a distinction is made between what is regular and what is occasional. Yes.
