Discussion of the religious festivals present in the Hijri year and mentioning their causes.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: This night is the night completing the thirtieth of the blessed month of Ramadan in the year 1421, and Allah knows best that it will be
the last meeting in this blessed month in the Sacred Mosque.
O my dear brothers: Allah has bestowed upon His servants the completion of this blessed month, and the facilitation of righteous deeds that bring one closer to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). I ask Allah to make them a deposit for us with Him, and a forgiveness
for sins, an expiation for evil deeds, and an elevation of ranks.
The Hijri year contains only three festivals:
The first festival: The Festival of Breaking the Fast from Ramadan.
The second festival: The Festival of Sacrifice.
The third festival: The weekly festival, which is Friday.
These festivals have great occasions. The occasion for the Festival of Breaking the Fast is clear, as it is the conclusion of completing a pillar of Islam, which is fasting, and it is
the right of Muslims to rejoice in the completion of this pillar, because if a person completes it and Allah bestows upon him acceptance, He forgives him what has passed of his sins, as came
from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and this is a great occasion. And for the one who breaks his fast from Ramadan, indeed, and for his breaking of fast from every day, there are two joys:
The first joy: Joy at completing his day, or his month. This joy is joy at what Allah has bestowed upon him of completing the month or the day, and at what Allah has bestowed upon him
of abundant reward for this day.
As for the Festival of Sacrifice, it is a great festival in which Muslims gather from every direction on a single plain at 'Arafah, wearing a single garment, with none of them distinguished from the other, and they call upon Allah (Mighty and Majestic) with whatever supplication is facilitated for them. It is a great day in which Muslims gather for a single act of worship, calling upon their Lord, so it is their right to designate a festival for this occasion in which they rejoice.
As for Friday, it is the weekly festival, and it is right for it to be a festival, because it contains the Friday prayer, which Allah (Mighty and Majestic) distinguished with great features that are not found in any other. Among these is the obligation of the full ritual bath for it, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1152, meaning upon every adult.
Among these is that it is a standalone prayer that no other prayer is combined with it, so it is not permissible to combine the 'Asr prayer with it, because combining was only reported between the Zuhr and 'Asr, not between Friday and 'Asr. Accordingly, if you are praying the Friday prayer in Makkah and you intend to travel after the prayer, do not pray 'Asr combined with Friday, because Friday is a standalone prayer with which no other is combined. Rather, travel, and when the time for the 'Asr prayer comes, pray 'Asr. This is the obligatory course.
O Allah, conclude Ramadan for us with Your forgiveness, and be generous to us with Your grace and bounty, and make our destination Your Gardens, and return Ramadan to us and the Muslim community draped in honor, dignity, and safety. Indeed, You are over every thing
capable.
