The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh. In some villages, it is common for people to sever ties, quarrel, and boycott one another, even among close relatives. This can last for a month, two months, or even years, and there is no power or might except with Allah. Some of the sons of these people want to greet the others, visit them, and maintain ties with them. Their father or brothers become angry with them, and they may even boycott and cut them off because they went to their opponents. Should he disobey them and go to greet them? Or should he obey his parents and remain in a state of boycott toward the others for the rest of his life?
The Shaykh : This question involves two pieces of guidance. The first piece of guidance is directed at these people who become angry with their sons or relatives when they maintain ties with their kin. We say to those who are angry about maintaining family ties: you are opposing Allah the Mighty and Majestic. You are opposing Him and defying Him. How so? Did not Allah command the maintenance of family ties? And if He commanded it, He is pleased with it. These people do not approve of what Allah approves, nor do they command what Allah has commanded. Rather, they forbid what Allah has commanded. Thus, they possess a characteristic of the hypocrites. What did Allah say about the characteristics of the hypocrites?[At-Tawbah 9:67] What is it? [At-Tawbah 9:67] These people command the severing of family ties and forbid their maintenance. This is a characteristic of the hypocrites.
So I direct this word of mine to these people to repent to their Lord, not to contradict Allah the Mighty and Majestic in His command, not to approve of what Allah dislikes, and to dislike what Allah has approved, before they die and remain in this state. And Allah the Exalted said:[Muhammad 47:22].

The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another.
الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍThey enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right
