What is the ruling on one who comes to his family as a visitor and wants to perform 'Umrah, such as one who works in Hufar al-Batin and whose family is in Jeddah: from where does he enter the state of ihram?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I work in Hufar al-Batin, and my family’s residence is in the Jeddah area. I had intended while I was in Hufar al-Batin to perform 'Umrah, and when I went on leave, I entered the state of ihram from my family’s home and performed 'Umrah. Should I enter the state of ihram from the miqat of Ta'if or from the home? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : But when you came from Hufar al-Batin, was your intention to go to your family, and you did not intend to perform 'Umrah?

The questioner : To go to my family and perform 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : But what was the original reason for your coming on leave?

The questioner : The original reason for my coming was to see my family.

The Shaykh : To see your family. If the original reason for coming was to see your family, then go to your family without entering the state of ihram, and when you want to enter the state of ihram, enter it from Jeddah. However, if you did not come at this time except for 'Umrah, you must pass through the miqat.

The questioner : My original intention was to visit my family, and then I would enter the state of ihram and go up to perform 'Umrah.

The Shaykh : Yes.
Because there is a difference between one who is from Jeddah and comes to his residence; we say: if you want to perform 'Umrah, enter the state of ihram from your location in Jeddah. Or, for example, a person from Qassim who wants to go to Jeddah and Makkah; we say: you must enter the state of ihram from the miqat.
So, based on what I understood from your words, that you want to see your family as the primary intention, we say: go to your family, and if you want to enter the state of ihram, enter it from your location.
