What is the ruling on women visiting graves and carrying incense with them until the deceased is buried?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on women visiting graves and carrying incense with them until the deceased is buried? Is that permissible?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for women to follow funeral processions, nor is it permissible for them to visit graves. Umm Atiyyah said:
We were prevented from following the funeral, but that was not made binding on us. نهينا عن اتباع الجنائز ولم يعزم علينا
Sunan Ibn Majah 1577Sahih (Darussalam)
.
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed women who visit graves, so it is not permissible for a woman to follow a funeral procession or to visit a cemetery.
As for the statement of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her): "and it was not made obligatory upon us", some scholars have said that this was a legal opinion formed by her, and that we are bound by what the Sunnah indicates, which is her statement:
We were prevented from following the funeral نهينا عن اتباع الجنائز
Sunan Ibn Majah 1577Sahih (Darussalam)
. If the prohibition is established, the default ruling is prohibition. Her statement: "and it was not made obligatory upon us" is a legal opinion formed by her. In any case, women are prohibited from following funeral processions, and women who visit graves are cursed; we seek refuge in Allah from that.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
