Explanation of the Book of Fitnahs and Rulings-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn Abi Ya'qub al-Kirmani narrated to us, saying: Hassan ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Yunus narrated to us, saying: Muhammad, who is al-Zuhri, narrated to us, saying: Salim informed me that 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar informed him:
He divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and 'Umar mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry with him, then he said: "Let him take her back, then let him keep her until she becomes pure, then let her menstruate and become pure. If he then wishes to divorce her, let him divorce her."
.

The Shaykh : The point of interest is the statement: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry with him." Taghayyaz (becoming angry) means that anger, which is wrath, overtook him. We have previously discussed the rulings of this hadith and clarified that the stronger opinion is that this divorce did not take place and is invalid, because it occurred outside the period for which Allah commanded that women be divorced. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected. من عمل عملا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
