Benefits of the Hadith: (The dawn is of two kinds...) and the Hadith: (It stretches across the horizon)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among the benefits of this hadith is that the true dawn brings about two legal consequences: the permissibility of prayer and the prohibition of food. As for the permissibility of prayer, it is because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) timed the prayers, specifying that the dawn prayer is from such a time to such a time. As for the prohibition of food, it is due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night] وكلوا واشربوا حتى يتبين لكم الخيط الأبيض من الخيط الأسود من الفجر
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
Among the benefits of the hadith is the refutation of the view held by some of the Salaf that a person may eat and drink until the light covers the entire horizon, meaning until the sun is about to rise. Some of the Salaf held this view, but it is weak because it contradicts the noble verse where Allah the Exalted said:
until it becomes clear to you حتى يتبين لكم
So, once it becomes clear, abstaining is obligatory. However, a person is permitted to finish his fill if the vessel is in his hand, or to finish the mouthful in his hand. But to start eating again after the dawn has become clear is not permissible. Among the benefits of this hadith, and the one that follows it, is the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the appearance of this dawn which we call the false dawn. This is so that a person may prepare to abstain in fasting and for prayer, namely the Fajr prayer, and know that the dawn is approaching, so that he may conclude his night prayer with the witr he intends to conclude it with.
