The questioner : In her letter, she complains about her husband, whom she married about thirty-five years ago and who has given her sons and daughters, but after this long period of cohabitation, he has denied her and began treating her badly, boycotting her in speech, company, and everything else. She tried to win his approval, but he rejects all her attempts at kindness and closeness, insisting on rejecting her and not fulfilling her requests. She asks about the ruling if she leaves him and goes to her parents' home, knowing that he married her when she was an orphan and without her consent, but she was patient with him and lived with him despite all those long years. She also asks for advice to be given to this husband and those like him, perhaps Allah will guide him? Yes?

The Shaykh : The advice for this husband is to remember the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):
And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them - perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.
[An-Nisa 4:19]
and to remember the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Fear Allaah regarding women for you have got them under Allah’s security and have the right to intercourse with them by Allaah’s word اتقوا الله في النساء فإنكم أخذتموهن بأمانة الله، واستحللتم فروجهن بكلمة الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 1905Sahih (Al-Albani)
And if he has boycotted her for a reason he considers permissible for boycotting, he should try to fix the matter by explaining the reason to her in order to address it. But to simply stop dealing with her like this is not part of treating her with kindness. As for her, it is obligatory for her to be patient with what has happened from her husband and to fear Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) regarding her children. What I see for her is to remain in the marital home, patient and seeking reward, so that the children do not scatter and the family does not break apart. And every thing has a limit and an end, and as it is said, the permanence of a state is impossible. Yes.

The questioner : This is a question from the listener 'Ayn from the southern part of al-Ta'if, the martyrs' area, he says.
