The ruling on a woman who entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah, then menstruation began, and she removed her ihram garments

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A woman entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah, then menstruation began, so she took off her ihram clothes, canceled the 'Umrah, and traveled. What is the ruling?

Answer: This woman remains under the ruling of ihram, and removing the clothes she entered ihram in does not take her out of the state of ihram. She must return to Makkah to complete her 'Umrah. She owes no expiation for removing her clothes, or for taking any of her nails or hair, or for returning to her country, if she was ignorant of the ruling. However, if she has a husband and he has intercourse with her before she returns to perform the rites of 'Umrah, she thereby invalidates her 'Umrah. But it is obligatory for her to perform the rites of 'Umrah even though it is invalid, and then to make it up afterwards with another 'Umrah from the miqat from which she entered ihram for the first one.
In addition to that, she owes a fidyah, which is one-seventh of a camel, or one-seventh of a cow, or one head of sheep, either a one-year-old sheep or a two-year-old goat, to be slaughtered in the Makkah Haram and distributed among the poor in the Haram, as expiation for invalidating her 'Umrah through intercourse.
A woman may enter ihram in whatever clothes she wishes, and there are no specific clothes for ihram, as some of the common people think. However, it is better for her that her ihram clothes not be beautiful, so that no fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) arises from them. And Allah knows best.
