The questioner : If it is said: In the wording of the hadith:
And in the silver coinage, in two hundred dirhams, is a quarter of a tenth وفي الرقة في مائتي درهم ربع العشر
And in the hadith of Ali "And nothing is upon you until you have twenty dinars", the silver coinage is silver struck as currency, and likewise the dinar is currency.

The Shaykh : Currency, currency with a kasrah.

The questioner : Currency?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : And likewise the dinar is currency, and this is evidence for the restriction of the obligation of zakah to what is of that nature.
And jewelry is not of that. The answer is from two angles:
The first is that those who do not obligate zakah on jewelry and argue with such a wording do not restrict the obligation of zakah to struck gold and silver, but they obligate it in raw gold and the like.
It was said in the marginal note: "And raw gold is what is of gold and silver that is not worked", even if it is not struck. This is a contradiction and arbitrariness on their part, where they included in it what the wording does not cover, in their claim, and excluded from it the equivalent of what they included, in terms of the indication of the wording on it...

The Shaykh : Yes, I heard "and they included and excluded from it", what is the equivalent of what they included? He says he is speaking words that are not knowledge.

The questioner : That is the favor of Allah, which He grants to whom He wills.

The Shaykh : The marginal note, is that good, is it? Good, do you not have all of it?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Read, read, so the answer.

The questioner : So the answer is from two angles:
The first is that those who do not obligate zakah on jewelry and argue with such a wording do not...

The Shaykh : The wording? And what is the wording? Like in the silver coinage, in their saying in the silver coinage and in their saying dinar, he says the silver coinage and the dinar are the struck currency, yes.

The questioner : They do not restrict the obligation of zakah to struck gold and silver, but they obligate it in raw gold and the like, even if it is not struck, and this is a contradiction on their part and...

The Shaykh : Is raw gold known to you? A piece of gold or silver that is not worked and not struck as currency, but rather it is heaps of gold and silver, yes?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : That is, not worked, yes.

The questioner : And this is a contradiction.
