The reciter: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) transmitted in the context of the hadith of Ka'b, he said: "
As for my two companions, they remained quiet and sat in their houses weeping. As for me, I was the youngest and the most robust of the people, so I would go out and attend the prayer with the Muslims, and I would walk around the markets, but no one would speak to me. I would come to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and greet him while he was in his sitting place after the prayer, and I would say to myself: Did he move his lips in return for the greeting or not? Then I would pray near him and steal glances at him. Whenever I turned to my prayer, he would look at me, and whenever I turned toward him, he would turn away from me. Until when that became long for me because of the coldness of the Muslims, I walked until I climbed over the wall of Abu Qatadah’s house, who was my maternal uncle and the most beloved of people to me. I greeted him, and by Allah, he did not return my greeting. So I said to him: O Abu Qatadah, I invoke Allah upon you, do you know that I love Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)? So he was silent. I returned and invoked Allah upon him again, and he was silent. I returned and invoked Allah upon him again, and he said: Allah and His Messenger know best. So my eyes overflowed with tears, and I turned away until I climbed over the wall. While I was walking in the market of Madinah, a Nabati from the Nabateans of the people of Sham, who had come with food to sell in Madinah, said: Who can point me to Ka'b ibn Malik? So the people began pointing to me until he came to me and handed me a letter from the King of Ghassan, and I was a scribe. I read it, and in it was: After this, it has reached us that your companion has been cold to you, and Allah has not made you a person of low status or one who is neglected, so come to us that we may console you. So when I read it, I said: This is also part of the trial. So I aimed it at the oven and burned it, until forty of the fifty had passed and the revelation was delayed
