The Shaykh : In the hadith of Ka'b ibn Malik, we return to the hadith of Ka'b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him when he said:
Part of my repentance is that I divest myself of my wealth as repentance to Allah and His Messenger. He said: Hold onto some of your wealth, for it is better for you. So he held onto some of the wealth. إنَّ مِن توبتي أن أنخلع من مالي توبة إلى الله ورسوله ، قال : أمسك عليك بعض مالك فهو خير لك ، فأمسك عليه بعض المال
: And in this is evidence, meaning it is taken from this hadith, or from this portion of the hadith: that if Allah bestows a blessing upon a person, then it is a recommended practice (sunnah) to give charity from some of his wealth. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approved Ka'b ibn Malik's giving charity from some of his wealth as repentance to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for this great matter that occurred for him, which was a source of pride for him until the Day of Resurrection. And success is from Allah.
