Reading the text of the hadith: "… By Allah, I have not known any of the Muslims whom Allah the Exalted has treated better in the truthfulness of speech since I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than He has treated me, and by Allah, I have not intentionally told a lie since I said that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until this day of mine, and I hope that Allah the Exalted will preserve me in what remains. He said: So Allah the Exalted revealed: 'Indeed, Allah has accepted the repentance of the Prophet, the emigrants, and the helpers who followed him in the hour of hardship' until it reached: 'Indeed, He is to them Most Merciful and Compassionate. And as for the three who were left behind, until the earth became narrow for them despite its vastness' until it reached: 'Fear Allah and be with the truthful.' Ka'b said: By Allah, Allah has not bestowed upon me any blessing after He guided me to Islam that is greater in my heart than my truthfulness to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that I not have lied to him, so that I would perish as those who lied perished. Indeed, Allah the Exalted said to those who lied when the revelation was revealed the worst of what He said to anyone. So Allah the Exalted said: 'They will swear by Allah to you when you return to them that you should turn away from them, so turn away from them. Indeed, they are impure, and their home is Hell, a recompense for what they used to earn. They swear to you that you may be pleased with them, but if you are pleased with them, then indeed Allah is not pleased with the people who are open sinners' …"

The reader: He said (may Allah have mercy on him): " فوالله ما علمت أحدًا من المسلمين أبلاه الله تعالى في صدق الحديث منذ ذكرتُ ذلك لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أحسنَ مما أبلاني الله تعالى ، والله ما تعمَّدت كذبة منذ قلت ذلك لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى يومي هذا ، وإني لأرجو أن يحفظني الله تعالى فيما بقي ، قال : فأنزل الله تعالى : لقد تاب الله على النبي والمهاجرين والأنصار الذين اتبعوه في ساعة العسرة حتى بلغ : إنه بهم رؤوف رحيم وعلى الثلاثة الذين خُلِّفوا حتى إذا ضاقت عليهم الأرض بما رحبت حتى بلغ : اتقوا الله وكونوا مع الصادقين ، قال كعب : والله ما أنعمَ الله عليَّ من نعمة قط بعد إذ هداني الله للإسلام أعظم في نفسي من صدقي رسولَ الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن لا أكون كذبتُه ، فأهلك كما هلك الذين كذبوا ، إن الله تعالى قال للذين كَذبوا حين أنزل الوحي شرَّ ما قال لأحد ، فقال الله تعالى : سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا انْقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُوا عَنْهُمْ فَأَعْرِضُوا عَنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ ، يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْ فَإِنْ تَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَرْضَى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ ، قال كعب : كنا خُلفنا أيها الثلاثة By Allah, I have not known any of the Muslims whom Allah the Exalted has treated better in the truthfulness of speech since I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than He has treated me, and by Allah, I have not intentionally told a lie since I said that to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until this day of mine, and I hope that Allah the Exalted will preserve me in what remains.
