The author (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in this chapter the chapter on cooperation in righteousness and piety. What is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his saying:Sunan Abi Dawud 2509Sahih (Al-Albani) This is part of cooperation in righteousness and piety. When a person equips a warrior, meaning with his mount, his provisions, and his weapons—three things: the mount, the provisions, and the weapons—if he equips him with these, he has gone on a campaign. That is, the reward of the warrior is recorded for him because he helped him in good. Likewise, whoever leaves behind a warrior’s family in a good state has gone on a campaign. This means if a warrior wants to go on a campaign but is concerned about who will be with his family, and a Muslim man volunteers and says, “I will look after your family in a good state,” then this person who looks after his family will have the reward of the warrior, the reward of the warrior, because he helped him. Thus, helping the warrior takes two forms: the first form is to help him with his mount, provisions, and weapons; and the second is to help him by being a substitute for him with his family, because this is one of the greatest forms of help. Indeed, it is difficult for many people to find someone to be with their family and attend to their needs. So if this man attends to the needs of his family and looks after them in a good state, he has gone on a campaign. Among the examples of this is what happened to Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left him behind during the expedition to Tabuk, leaving him with his family. He said: Sahih Muslim 2404d Meaning: I will look after your family just as Moses left Aaron with his people when he went to the appointed time with his Lord. From this example of the warrior, it is understood that whoever helps a person in an act of obedience has a reward like his, without anything being deducted from his reward. So if you help a student of knowledge by buying books for him, securing housing for him, providing for his expenses, or the like, you have a reward like his, without anything being deducted from his reward. Likewise, if you help a person praying by facilitating his task in his prayer, in his place, in his clothes, in his ablution, or in anything else, a reward is recorded for you in that. The general rule is: whoever helps a person in any of the acts of obedience to Allah has a reward like his, without anything being deducted from his reward. And success is from Allah.
