The Ruling on Marrying a Woman Whom the Parents Do Not Approve

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: From Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, to the honorable brother / A. M. A. F. from Riyadh, may Allah guide him.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
Your letter arrived, in which you asked, according to your statement: One of my female relatives is a woman who has been married before, and she has three children. She is religious and holds fast to the Sunnah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Will I be rewarded by Allah, the Exalted and Sublime, for marrying her and helping her raise her children and preserve her chastity, even though the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged marrying a virgin and said, in meaning: that they are purer in mouth.
Also, my parents do not approve of my marriage to that woman, even though they know fully well that she is religious, but they are afraid for me that I will burden myself with the expenses of her children. Is disobeying the parents in this matter considered undutifulness to them, knowing that, praise be to Allah, Allah has given me much good from His bounty, and the parents are living in comfort? Please issue a ruling on my matter, may Allah reward you with good for me and for all the Muslims.

Answer: Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and companions, and whoever follows their path until the Day of Judgment. After that:
If you marry the aforementioned woman with the aforementioned intention, you will be rewarded, if Allah wills; because you have combined excellence toward her through marriage and maintaining family ties. Be glad of good and abundant reward for what you spend on her and her children; for Allah, the Exalted, said:
But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."وَمَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّن شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ
[Surat Saba: 39].
However, we see that you should seek your parents' permission in a good manner; so that there is no estrangement or undutifulness between you and them. May Allah make your matter easy and guide them to agree with you.
As for the books you requested in your letter, we see that you should send a separate letter regarding them, accompanied by your academic qualifications; so that we may look into that. May Allah guide everyone to what pleases Him. And may peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
