The reciter: He said -may Allah have mercy on him-: "Chapter on the encouragement to recite specific surahs and verses:
From Abu Sa'id Rafi' ibn al-Ma'la (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: ألا أعلمك أعظم سورة في القرآن قبل أن تخرج من المسجد ؟ فأخذ بيدي ، فلما أردنا أن نخرج قلتُ : يا رسول الله إنك قلتَ : لأعلمنك أعظم سورة في القرآن ؟ قال : الحمد لله رب العالمين ، هي السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم الذي أوتيته Shall I not teach you the greatest surah in the Qur'an before you leave the mosque? So he took my hand, and when we were about to leave, I said: O Messenger of Allah, you said: "I will surely teach you the greatest surah in the Qur'an?" He said: "Al-Hamdu lillahi Rabbil 'alamin (The Praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds) is the seven repeated verses and the great Qur'an which was given to me" Al-Bukhari narrated it " .
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author said -may Allah have mercy on him- in his book *Riyad al-Saliheen*: "Chapter on the encouragement to recite specific surahs and verses": In what preceded, there was mention of the encouragement to recite the Qur'an in general, whereas this chapter is about mentioning specific verses and surahs that have a special virtue. Among these is Surat al-Fatihah, which is the greatest surah in the Book of Allah. For this reason, it is called the Mother of the Qur'an, and the "Mother" is that to which things return. So, the meanings of the entire Qur'an return to Surat al-Fatihah; the meanings of the whole Qur'an. Therefore, Allah made it obligatory to recite it in every rak'ah of the prayers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:Sahih Muslim 394c, and this surah has characteristics, among which are:
That if a person recites it over a sick person, he will be healed by the permission of Allah, but on the condition that he recites it with faith, believing, reciting it while believing that it is a beneficial ruqyah (healing recitation). The second condition is that he recites it over a sick person who is also a believer, believing that it is a ruqyah and beneficial. Evidence for this is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) sent a military expedition, and they descended upon a group of people. The people invited them to stay as guests, but the people did not host them. So Allah sent upon their leader—that is, the leader of the people—a scorpion that stung him, and he suffered severe pain from it. So some of them said to others: "Go to these men, perhaps there is among them a reciter who can recite." So they came to the expedition and said to them: "Your leader has been stung by a scorpion, is there any one of you who can recite?" They said: "Yes, but we will not recite for you unless you give us a reward, a flock of sheep." They said: "We will give it to you." So one of the people from among the Companions stepped forward and began to recite over this man, reciting Surat al-Fatihah, while he was in the most severe pain from the scorpion's sting. So he recited over him, and the stung man stood up as if he had been released from a rope: meaning as if he were a camel whose rope had been untied, with no harm in him. So they gave them the sheep. Then some of them said to others: "We fear that the sheep are haram (forbidden), we will not eat from them until we reach the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." When they reached Medina and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), he said to them:Sunan Abi Dawud 3418Sahih (Al-Albani): meaning, make a share for me from it. He only said that to please their hearts, otherwise he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in no need of this, but to please their hearts and to clarify the permissibility of this matter. Then he said to the one who recited it: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2064Sahih (Darussalam)?! If a person recites over a sick person, believing that it is a ruqyah, and the sick person also believes that it is beneficial by the permission of Allah, then Allah the Exalted will benefit them with it in a wondrous way. This is among the virtues of Surat al-Fatihah, and it is the greatest surah in the Book of Allah, as in this hadith. And Allah grants success.
