The Ruling on Obeying a Grandfather in Not Marrying a Specific Family

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He asks another question, saying: I want to marry one of the families, but my grandfather has forbidden his sons and daughters from marrying them, citing old differences. What is the ruling of the Shari'ah in this matter?

Answer:
It is better for you to leave them, because the grandfather is a father, and dutifulness to him is required. Perhaps there is good in that for everyone, for there are many people and many women, and praise be to Allah.
What is prescribed for you, and what is best for you in my view, is to seek a group other than the group your grandfather does not approve of, for the reasons you mentioned. As for forbidding that, it is a matter of consideration. However, leaving them and being mindful of your grandfather's feelings, because he is a father—the grandfather is a father, and dutifulness is obligatory—perhaps there is a clear benefit for everyone in leaving them. This is perhaps the safest and better course, if Allah wills. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
