Allah the Exalted says: “Indeed, the awliya (close friends of Allah) will have no fear, nor will they grieve; those who believed and used to fear Allah.” Who are the awliya, and what are their characteristics?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In his question, he says: Allah Blessed and Exalted says in His Noble Book:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنون ، الذين آمنوا وكانوا يتقون
[Yunus 10:62-63]
Who are these awliya? And what are their characteristics?

The Shaykh : Allah Mighty and Majestic has guaranteed to explain who these awliya are, so He said:
Those who believed and were fearing Allah الذين آمنوا وكانوا يتقون
[Yunus 10:63]
These are their characteristics. Whoever is a believer who fears Allah is a wali (close friend of Allah). Wilayah (friendship with Allah) is not by long sleeves, nor by a large turban, nor by a long miswak, nor by a long rosary. Wilayah is through faith and taqwa (mindfulness of Allah). So when we know that a man is among the believers who fear Allah, and that no sins have been observed in him—neither by leaving an obligatory act nor by committing a forbidden act—while he remains upright, we know that he is among the awliya of Allah.
But do the awliya of Allah benefit a person after his death? After the death of the wali?
The answer is: No, they do not benefit him. For this reason, it is not permissible for a person to go to the grave of someone who is said to be a wali and say, “O my master, I am poor, so make me rich.” If he says this, he has committed kufr (disbelief) and associated partners with Allah. Nor should a woman take dust from the grave of someone who is said to be a wali, put it in water, and drink it in order to have a child. All of this has no truth, no validity, and is not permissible. The wali does not benefit anyone except himself.
Yes, in life, he may make du'a' (supplication) for a person, and it may be answered, or it may not be answered. But after death, he does not benefit anyone.
