How to reconcile gentleness in da'wah with hatred for the enemies of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Among the questions of this questioner—may the Shaykh be respected—he says: How do you reconcile gentleness with people in calling to Allah, and the wisdom in that, with applying these verses:
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allahأُفٍّ لَكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ
[Al-Anbiya: 67],
there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatredوَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ
[Al-Mumtahanah: 4]? And is hatred for the sake of Allah sufficient in the heart, or is it necessary to manifest it in all circumstances and conditions in the field of calling to Allah?

Answer:
Gentleness in da'wah does not contradict this. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, "Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah aloneقَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ
[Al-Mumtahanah: 4], and He said regarding Ibrahim that he said to his people:
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?"أُفٍّ لَكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَفَلا تَعْقِلُونَ
[Al-Anbiya: 67].
So when a person knows, calls to Allah, and guides, and they do not respond to him, he makes it clear to them—he makes it clear to them of enmity and hatred—because he has fulfilled what is required of him. And this does not contradict wisdom. He does not curse them, nor does he invoke evil upon them, but he calls to Allah and prays for their guidance. And when he makes it clear to them of enmity and hatred, it is because this is our religion, which obligates hatred and enmity from the Muslim toward the disbeliever, just as Allah commanded His Prophet and His intimate friend Ibrahim to say that. And let him say: "Woe to your gods," if they are idols or the like, woe to them. And if they are dead disbelievers, woe to them. And if the ones being worshipped are prophets or righteous people, no, he does not say this. He says: They are disavowed of you. The prophets and the righteous are disavowed of those who worship them other than Allah. They disavow those who worship them.
So it is obligatory for the one who calls to Allah to have wisdom. He should be gentle in da'wah, and guide to Allah with good words and a good manner, while clarifying the invalidity of worshipping other than Allah, and that the disbelievers are enemies to the Muslims, and that there is hatred and enmity between them. This is their duty. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and bless you, may the Shaykh be respected.
