Question:
The first message in this episode is one that reached the program from Libya. The sender is one of the female listeners there, Fawziyah Ahmad. We presented some of her questions in a previous episode, and she has a group of others that we will present in this episode, if Allah wills. Our sister says: What do we say about sorcery? And how do we protect ourselves from it? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
So sorcery is forbidden for Muslims, and it is the work of the Shayatins and their followers, and it is disbelief and misguidance; because it is not reached except by worshipping the jinn other than Allah. Allah the Exalted said: [al-Baqarah:102] So He informed that they disbelieved with this teaching. He said after that: [al-Baqarah:102] meaning: Harut and Marut... And He said the Exalted: [al-Baqarah:102] So this indicates that teaching it is disbelief; because they say to the learner: "So do not disbelieve." So this indicates that learning it is disbelief. So it is obligatory to be cautious of that. And He said after that: [al-Baqarah:102], meaning: from their share and portion... Then He said after that: [al-Baqarah:103] So this indicates that sorcery is the opposite of faith, and the opposite of taqwa.
The point is: that learning sorcery is done by worshipping the Shayateen, calling for their aid, slaughtering for them, making vows for them, and the like. So it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). It is not permissible to learn it, nor to teach it, nor to practice it, nor to go to its people and ask them, nor to believe them. Rather, it is obligatory to be cautious of that. And sufficient in this is His saying, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [al-Baqarah:102]. And the saying of the two angels to the learner: indicates that learning it is disbelief. And His saying regarding the Shayateen: [al-Baqarah:102].
So the point is: that it is forbidden, and its evil is great, and in it is great corruption, along with it being worship of other than Allah, and disbelief in Allah. So it is obligatory to avoid it, and to be cautious of it. And among the means of avoiding it: that the Muslim seeks refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created, morning and evening, three times. He says:Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) Morning and evening, and at every time. This is among the means of protection. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2708a And a man said to him: .
And likewise he said (peace and blessings be upon him):Musnad Ahmad 474Hasan (Darussalam) So it is recommended for the Muslim to say this morning and evening three times. Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 So this is among the means of protection.
Among the means of protection: reciting Ayat al-Kursi (the Verse of the Throne) after every prayer, and when sleeping. It is among the means of safety from the Shayateen. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the one who recites it when sleeping: The Shaytan said this to Abu Hurayrah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told the truth. He said to him: .
And likewise, reciting [al-Ikhlas:1] and the two Mu'awwidhat (chapters of seeking refuge) three times after the Fajr prayer, and after the Maghrib prayer, is among the means of safety from everything. And reciting these three chapters after the Zuhr, after the 'Asr, and after the 'Isha' prayer once is likewise among the means of safety.
So we advise the questioner and others who listen to this program to benefit from these things that the Prophet (may Allah send prayers and blessings upon him) explained, and to avoid evil by practicing these lawful adhkar (remembrances of Allah), and these lawful instructions that the Prophet (may Allah send prayers and blessings upon him) explained. So we advise all our brothers in Libya, and our sisters in Libya, and in other places in Africa, and in Europe, and in every place. We advise everyone to take care of this program, "Noor 'ala al-Darb" (Light on the Path), for it is a beneficial program, and it is run by scholars known for goodness, knowledge, and virtue.
So we advise all our brothers in every place, and all our sisters in every place in Libya and elsewhere. We advise everyone to listen to this program, and to listen to the Quran Radio from the Saudi Radio. For the program "Noor 'ala al-Darb," and likewise what is broadcast on the Quran Radio of lectures and sermons, is all beneficial. And likewise what is broadcast of the Noble Quran, which is the origin of all good, the Quran. So we advise everyone to listen to this radio, the Quran Radio, and to listen to this program "Noor 'ala al-Darb," and to listen to the lectures of the scholars of the Sunnah, the scholars of the truth, the scholars of the good creed, in every place. For this is from the category of learning knowledge, from the category of understanding the religion. And it is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah send prayers and blessings upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 1037a It is agreed upon as authentic. This is a great hadith: Sahih Muslim 1037a And listening to this program "Noor 'ala al-Darb" is from understanding the religion. And listening to the Quran Radio from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is from understanding the religion. And learning from the scholars of the Sunnah and taking from them in every place is from understanding the religion. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2699a Narrated by Muslim in the Sahih.
So we advise all our brothers and sisters in every place to learn, to understand the religion, to take care of the Noble Quran, to increase in its recitation, and to reflect on its meanings from memory, or from the mushaf (written copy of the Quran). And to ask the people of knowledge, the scholars of the Sunnah known for knowledge, virtue, and good creed, to ask them about everything that is difficult, along with listening to this program, and maintaining the listening to it, "Noor 'ala al-Darb," at its times, and listening to the Quran Radio in every place. For in that is much good and abundant knowledge. We ask Allah for everyone success and guidance.

وَاتَّبَعُوا مَا تَتْلُوا الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَى مُلْكِ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمَانُ وَلَكِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَand that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone

It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, "We are a trial, so do not disbelieve

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَمَثُوبَةٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَThe point is: that learning sorcery is done by worshipping the Shayateen, calling for their aid, slaughtering for them, making vows for them, and the like. So it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). It is not permissible to learn it, nor to teach it, nor to practice it, nor to go to its people and ask them, nor to believe them. I was stung by a scorpion tonight.” He said: “If you had said: ‘I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created,’ it would not have harmed you.”
يا رسول الله! ما لقيت من عقرب لدغتني هذه الليلة، فقال: أما إنك لو قلت: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق؛ لم تضركAnd likewise he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
