Explanation of Verses 106 - 108 of Surat Hud

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I request an explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(106) As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling. (107) [They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends. (108) And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted.
[Hud: 106 - 108]. Is it understood from this that whoever enters Paradise will be taken out of it if Allah wills? And have these two verses been abrogated by anything in the Qur'an, since they were revealed in a Meccan surah?

A: The two verses are not abrogated but are clear and decisive, and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
except what your Lord should willإِلا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ
[Hud 11:107]
The scholars differed in their understanding of that, while they agreed that the pleasure of Paradise is eternal, never ending, never ceasing, and they will not be taken out of it. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
a bestowal uninterrupted.
[Hud 11:108]
to remove some of what some people might imagine, namely that there is an exit. They are eternal in it forever. For this reason, He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.
[Al-Hijr 15:45]
Enter it in peace and security[al-Hijr: 45-46] meaning secure from death, secure from being taken out, and secure from diseases. For this reason, he (peace and blessings be upon him)After that:
And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.
[Al-Hijr 15:47]
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor will they be driven out of it[al-Hijr: 47-48] They will remain therein forever, they will not be driven out, and they will not die. And He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place;
[Ad-Dukhan 44:51]
In gardens and springsThey will wear garments of fine silk and brocade, facing one anotherThus, and We have married them to houris with large, beautiful eyes. They call out therein for every kind of fruit in safety. They will not taste death therein except the first death, and He has protected them from the punishment of the Blazing Fire.A favor from your Lord; that is the great success.[Surat al-Dukhan: 51 - 57] So He, the Exalted, informed that the people of Paradise are in a secure station that is not subject to destruction or departure, and that they are also safe, with no danger of death, illness, or exit, and they will never die.
So His saying:
except what your Lord should willإِلا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ
[Hud 11:107]
Some of the scholars said: Its meaning is the duration of their stay in the graves. They are not in Paradise, and although the believer is in a garden of the gardens of Paradise, it is not Paradise itself but a part of it. A door to Paradise is opened for the believer while he is in his grave, and he receives from its breeze, its fragrance, and its pleasure. After that, he is transferred to the Paradise above the heavens, in the highest place.
And some of them said:
except what your Lord should willإِلا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ
[Hud 11:107]
It means the duration of their stay at the Place of Standing for reckoning and reward, and that is after their exit from the graves. After that, they are transferred to Paradise. And some of them said: It is the combination of both matters: the duration of their stay in the graves and the duration of their stay at the Place of Standing and their crossing of the Sirat. In all these places, they are not in Paradise, but they are transferred from them to Paradise.
From this, it is known that the station is a clear station in which there is no doubt or uncertainty. So the people of Paradise are in Paradise forever, with no death, no disease, no exit, no turbidity, no sadness, no menstruation, and no post-natal bleeding, but rather in eternal pleasure and eternal good. And so the people of the Fire are eternal in it forever and will not be taken out of it, as He the Mighty and Majestic said regarding them:
[Death] is not decreed for them so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them. Thus do we recompense every ungrateful one.
[Fatir: 36]. And the verses in this meaning are many.
As for His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding them:
except what your Lord should willإِلا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ
[Hud 11:107]
It was said that the intended meaning is their station in the graves, and it was said it is their station on the Day of Resurrection, and after that they are driven to the Fire and they will abide in it forever, as Allah the Exalted said regarding them in Surat al-Baqarah:
Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from the Fire.
[Al-Baqarah: 167], and He, Glorified and Exalted is He, said in Surat al-Ma'idah:
They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment.
[Al-Ma'idah: 37]. And success is from Allah.
