Question: Allah the Exalted says: [Hud: 106-108] , what is the meaning of these two verses, and what is intended by the permanence of the heavens and the earth,And by the exception in His saying: except for what your Lord wills in the two verses.
Answer: These two verses and those before them describe the scene of the Day of Resurrection,Allah the Exalted said: [Hud 103-106] the two verses.
Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, made it clear that on this great day people are divided into two groups: the wretched and the happy. Then He explained the reward of the wretched and the reward of the happy[Hud 11:106-107] ,The exegetes differed on the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: [Hud 11:107] ،It was said: This follows the style of the Arabs, and when the Arabs want to describe something as permanent,They said: it is permanent as long as the heavens and the earth last, and what is intended here is absolute permanence, as is the custom of the Arabs in their styles.
And it was said: What is intended is the genus of the heavens and the earth; because the Hereafter also has a heaven and an earth, but it is not this heaven, nor this earth that currently exist;Because Allah the Exalted says: [Ibrahim: 48] , so what is intended here by the earth and the heaven is the genus, even though the specific instances are different,And the meaning is: that these disbelievers will not come out of this Fire for eternity, and that they are immortal in it.
As for the exception in His saying, the Exalted: except for what your Lord wills in the two verses, the intended meaning of the exception in the first verse regarding the wretched is[Hud 11:107] ,The view held by most exegetes is: that what is intended by this exception
is the sinners among the monotheists who enter the Fire because of their sins, for they will not be immortal in it, and they are excepted from immortality. The disbelievers and polytheists are the only ones who are immortal in it. As for the sinners among the monotheists, even if they enter the Fire, they are excepted from immortality in it[Hud 11:107] by being brought out of it, either by the intercession of the intercessors, by the permission of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, or by the pardon of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, of them. So what is intended by the exception here is the people of tawhid, the sinning monotheists.
And as for the exception in His saying, the Exalted:[Hud 11:108] ،There are two views of the exegetes regarding it:
The first opinion: that what is intended is also the sinners among the monotheists, for the sinners among the monotheists who entered the Fire have a period of staying in Paradise at the beginning, so they have a degree of immortality, due to their staying in the Fire for a period before entering Paradise.
The second opinion: It was said that what is intended by the exception here is: to clarify that their immortality in it is not obligatory, but rather it is subject to the will of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So they are immortal in it by the will of Allah, and their immortality is not from the category of obligation.
Question: Regarding the one for whom the Fire is obligatory, but he is not judged to be immortal in it, which of the two is the last: the punishment or the bliss?
Answer: They enter the Fire first, and they remain in it as long as Allah wills them to remain, then they are brought out of it after that, having been burned and turned into charcoal, then they are thrown into a river called: (the River of Life) and their bodies grow, then after that, when they are purified and cleansed, they are permitted to enter Paradise. Their final state is immortality in Paradise.
(106) As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling. (107) [They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends. (108) And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted.
Answer: These two verses and those before them describe the scene of the Day of Resurrection,Allah the Exalted said:
(103) Indeed in that is a sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed. (104) And We do not delay it except for a limited term. (105) The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. (106) As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling.
Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, made it clear that on this great day people are divided into two groups: the wretched and the happy. And it was said: What is intended is the genus of the heavens and the earth; because the Hereafter also has a heaven and an earth, but it is not this heaven, nor this earth that currently exist;Because Allah the Exalted says:
[It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well], and all creatures will come out before Allah, the One, the Prevailing.
As for the exception in His saying, the Exalted: except for what your Lord wills in the two verses, the intended meaning of the exception in the first verse regarding the wretched is
abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will

The first opinion: that what is intended is also the sinners among the monotheists, for the sinners among the monotheists who entered the Fire have a period of staying in Paradise at the beginning, so they have a degree of immortality, due to their staying in the Fire for a period before entering Paradise.
