The son accepting his mother's advice in choosing a wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message received by the program from a Sudanese listener residing in the Kingdom, who used the initials (R. A. F.) for his name. In his first question, he says: I have an elderly mother who wants to marry me to the daughter of her brother who passed away several years ago. This is because he was dutiful and compassionate toward her. My mother insists on my marrying her, but I am not interested in her. Please advise me on this matter, may Allah reward you?
Answer: My advice to you, my brother, is to accept your mother's advice and marry the daughter of her brother, your maternal aunt's daughter. Perhaps there is great good in this. Being dutiful to parents, especially the mother, is a great right, and there is great good in it with noble consequences. This is on the condition that this girl is sound in her religion. If she is good, has sound belief, and is devoted to prayer and upright conduct, then I advise you and emphasize to you to accept your mother's words, her consultation, and her advice. Allah will make the outcome noble. Allah the Exalted says:
So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.فَاصْبِرْ إِنَّ الْعاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
[Hud: 49].
Being dutiful to the mother and obeying her in what is good is part of taqwa (mindfulness of Allah), and the outcome belongs to the people of taqwa. Do not dislike anything about the girl if it does not harm her character or religion. Allah the Exalted said:
perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.فَعَسَى أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا
[An-Nisa: 19], and He said:
Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for youكُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَكُمْ وَعَسَى أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ وَعَسَى أَنْ تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَكُمْ
[Al-Baqarah: 216].
If there is a deficiency in her character, or a deficiency in character that does not harm her religion and is not considered a sin, then be patient with it. Perhaps Allah will place in its place perfection in your own self and love in your heart, so that you may be upright with her in good and guidance, and so that you may please your mother.
However, if there is something that prevents it religiously, such as her not praying, or her being accused of lewd acts, then no, do not accept it and do not marry her. Apologize to your mother and explain to her, in private between you two, the reasons and excuses that prevent you from marrying her.
This is what I advise you to do, and I ask Allah for success for you in what you do and what you leave. Yes.
