Question:
The questioner, Nudawi, says in this question: Your Eminence, she mentions that her mother is ill and cannot go to the bathroom—may Allah reward you—and she performs tayammum at all times for prayer. However, when she feels energetic, she performs wudu with water because she is disabled. What is your guidance for her?
Answer:
[At-Taghabun 64:16] She should fear Allah. If she is able, she should go to the bathroom, and there is no harm in that. Otherwise, she should clean herself with tissues three times or more until she purifies the place of urination and defecation, and then perform tayammum. If she is able to go to the bathroom, or if she has someone to help her perform wudu, she should perform wudu with water after cleaning herself with tissues, milk, or the like. She should clean herself with milk three times or more, or with rough tissues three times or more, for urination and defecation. Then she should perform the wudu for prayer herself, or with the help of someone like her daughter or sister, or the like. Or she should perform tayammum if she is unable, by striking the earth once, then wiping her face and hands.
