Ruling on reciting a verse from the Qur'an before performing the adhan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q179: The questioner says: A mu'adhdhin in one of the mosques, before he calls to prayer, seeks refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, mentions the basmalah, and recites the verse:
And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلاً مِمَّنْ دَعَا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
[Fussilat 41:33]
,
in a loud voice, then he calls to prayer. Is that permissible, or is this an innovation?

A179: There is no doubt that this is a bid'ah (religious innovation) and a newly invented matter, and it is not permissible. One does not add anything to the adhan; neither reciting a verse nor anything else. Rather, he performs the adhan only, in its pure form, as it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he does not do anything before it, nor anything after it.
