Fatwa No. ( 21252 )
Q1: There isI have a girl who was suffering from an illness, and I made a vow to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) that if Allah the Exalted grants her healing and she walks, then I will slaughter a cow, and since Allah (Mighty and Majestic) granted her healing and she walked, praise be to Allah, I seek a ruling on the following:
I am a poor woman, so is it permissible for my relatives to help me and contribute with me in this vow?
A1: If you are poor, it is permissible for your relatives to give you what you need to fulfill your vow, and the vow does not become void for you.
Q2: Is it permissible for me to slaughter sheep equivalent to the cow, since the residents of the village do not eat beef?
A2: It is permissible to slaughter seven sheep in place of the cow. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
