Fatwa number ( 14563 )
Q: A questioner has a daughter, and he gave her to his nephew. His father has a gaze (evil eye), and her mother is suffering from this gaze. After that, one of his daughters fell into the fire, and she says after his daughter was admitted to the hospital? I vowed that if Allah heals this girl from this illness, the giving (of the marriage) will not be completed, and I will not sit in the neighborhood of this man because he has a gaze , and whenever he looks or speaks, or I see him in a dream, it is as if he has cast his gaze or spoken to me. I do not want the proximity of this person, and I do not want to marry off his children. And I am the father of the girl; if I force her mother to marry this person, what is the ruling on the marriage after this vow? Her mother was not pleased with this person. Does this husband, who is the father of the girl, commit a sin in this marriage, and her mother was not pleased? We ask you to
resolve my problem as soon as possible, and we ask for advice and clarification regarding this person, and we ask you for a quick response. What is your advice, O honorable Shaykh, for this wife, and does she commit a sin? We ask you for a quick response, and may Allah reward you with the best reward, and may Allah preserve you and care for you.
A: If the matter is as mentioned, and Allah healed the girl and the marriage contract for the nephew was completed, then the mother must expiate her vow with the expiation for an oath. The expiation is feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If she cannot find any of these, she must fast for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
