The first question of Fatwa No. ( 8004 )
Q1: I vowed to Allah that if He granted me success in being transferred to Saudi Arabia , I would build a corner for Allah. Praise be to Allah, He granted me success, and I have built the corner. All that remains are some finishing touches, such as tiling, paint, and furnishings. Is it permissible to spend on these from my specific zakah money, or not?
A1: It is not permissible; because spending on mosques is not among the eight categories of zakah expenditure, whether that is by vow or otherwise. It is obligatory to spend on the mosque from your personal wealth. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
