Q 3: My mother is divorced and married to another man, and when she comes to visit her relatives, my father refuses to let me walk with her because she is alone, and my mother insists that I go with her, so I am confused about this. Should I follow this or that?
A 3: It is obligatory for you to be dutiful to both of your parents and to treat them with kindness to the best of your ability, and neither of them has the right to prevent you from being dutiful to the other. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani) It is not right for him to prevent you
from being dutiful to your mother. You must handle the matter with wisdom so that you may win the pleasure of both of them, as far as possible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
