Responding to his mother with harsh words

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 8342 )
Q 2: When I was thirty years old, my mother was living in my house, and I provided for her and supplied her with everything she asked for. However, may Allah have mercy on her, she was hot-tempered, to the point that she would constantly quarrel with me over the slightest things. Sometimes I would get angry at her words and her shouting at me, so I would respond to her with a loud voice and inappropriate words. She passed away about twenty years ago, and since that time I have been weeping for her. My conscience still reproaches me and keeps me awake at night, and I will continue to weep over this great sin until Allah takes my life. As expiation for my sin, I performed Hajj for my mother twice, and a third time for her mother. I also gave charity on her behalf, and I have date palms of which I make a portion a public benefit (sabil) for her. Do I have any chance of repentance? What are the deeds I can perform so that their reward reaches her? What are the conditions of repentance toward one whose father has passed away ?
A 2: First: You did wrong in raising your voice at her and speaking to her with inappropriate words; because that is undutifulness to parents. Allah has made dutifulness to parents obligatory and forbidden undutifulness to them in His Book and on the tongue of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). You did well in your regret for what happened and your repentance from all of it.
We hope that Allah will accept your repentance and forgive your sin. Second: Sincere repentance is that which includes regret for the sin that occurred and the resolve not to return to it. Third: You did well in performing Hajj for your mother and for her mother, and in giving charity on their behalf. We hope that Allah will expiate your sins with that and reward you for it. This is something by which Allah benefits your mother and her mother, as well as supplication for forgiveness, mercy, entry into Paradise, and safety from the Fire. We ask Allah for success, forgiveness, and mercy for us and for you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
