Q: Muhammad’s children and Salem’s children lived in the same house, until they grew up and got married, knowing that there is no breastfeeding relationship between them. The question is:
1 - Is it permissible for Muhammad’s children to marry from Salem’s children? Knowing that Muhammad and Salem are brothers. 2 - Are the daughters of Munira, the daughter of Salem, permissible for Muhammad’s children, and are they considered their maternal uncles? Knowing that they currently greet them and say that they are their maternal uncles, on the grounds that they lived with Munira, the daughter of Salem, in the same house. I ask Allah, then you, to be generous in answering me, because I am confused by that situation. And peace be upon you.
A: If the matter is as mentioned, it is permissible for Muhammad’s sons to marry the daughters of their paternal aunt Munira. And their greeting them is an error and ignorance, for they have no right to uncover themselves to their paternal cousins, nor shake their hands, nor be alone with them; because they are not among their mahrams. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
