Preventing pregnancy due to harm to the mother
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 7665 )
Q3: A woman had her ovaries tied ten years ago because of a condition (eclampsia) that occurs in her during pregnancy, which is characterized by blood poisoning, high blood pressure, and increased protein in the urine. This is in addition to her diabetes, and all of this happens to her during childbirth in the form of seizures. She has given birth to four children in this manner, and the doctors ordered her not to become pregnant again, so she had her ovaries tied. All of this happened to her when she did not have knowledge of the religion, but now she has learned the matters of her religion and Allah has granted her guidance. What should she do?
A3: If the situation is as described, there is no blame on the woman mentioned regarding the tying of her ovaries that took place, nor regarding its continuation. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
