Obedience to the Husband in What Allah Has Forbidden
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 9354 )
Q1: Is it permissible for me to disobey my husband if he asks me to uncover my face in front of non-mahram men, and does this matter fall under the rule that there is no obedience to a creation in the disobedience of the Creator? This is with the knowledge that there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the ruling on covering the face. Is it permissible for me to uncover my face while I am in my house in the presence of my husband's male relatives, or when I open the door for the electricity or gas bill collector, or when I go out to the balcony to hang out the laundry, provided that I am wearing the full hijab without a face covering?
A1: It is forbidden for a wife to obey her husband in what Allah has forbidden; because there is no obedience to a creation in the disobedience of the Creator. This includes uncovering her face in front of non-mahram men, whether they are his relatives, her relatives, or others, inside the house, outside the house, on the balcony, or when opening the door for the electricity collector and guests. The hijab is not considered complete except by adhering to what has been mentioned. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
