Obedience to the Husband in What Is Right

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 5666 )
Q: I ask about the following:
My husband is committed to the Book and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he invites me and others to follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), but I do not listen to him nor do I follow him. 2 - Regarding walking to my family's and relatives' homes without his permission while he is not present. 3 - If I apply what my husband speaks about, the women will laugh at me and say: "She is afraid of him."

A: First: If your husband is as you described, it is obligatory for whoever hears him to respond to his invitation in what aligns with the Book of Allah the Exalted and the Sunnah of His Messenger -peace and blessings be upon him-, and you must be the first to respond to his invitation to that, and to obey him in what is right, and to praise Allah who made your husband one of the callers to good. May Allah guide you both to what brings Him pleasure. Second: It is not permissible for you to go out to visit anyone without his permission, whether they are relatives or not; because seeking his permission is part of good conduct and preserves the family unit, unless there is a custom between you or circumstances indicating his consent to going out for a need such as visiting your mahrams or women, or attending to a matter befitting your status, in which case this serves as a substitute for explicit permission. Third: Obey your husband in what he commands of what is right; to please Allah,
and to fulfill the right of the husband; for the Prophet -peace and blessings be upon him- said:
Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah through the displeasure of the people, Allah will be pleased with him and make the people pleased with him, and whoever seeks the pleasure of the people through the displeasure of Allah, Allah will be displeased with him and make the people displeased with him.من التمس رضا الله بسخط الناس رضي الله عنه وأرضى الناس عنه، ومن التمس رضا الناس بسخط الله سخط الله عليه وأسخط عليه الناس
Sahih Ibn Hibban 5:6
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
