Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A woman asks about her rights from her husband, saying: He is harsh in his treatment and does not provide for her.

The Shaykh : It is obligatory for the husband to treat his wife with kindness, as Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
And live with them in kindness وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
and as He the Exalted said:
And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:228]
It is not permissible for a person to fall short in his wife's rights; rather, it is obligatory for him to give her what is due to her. Let him know that if she does not take her rights from him today, she will take them from his deeds on the Day of Resurrection. What do you think of a woman who will be your adversary on the Day of Resurrection? Fear Allah now while you are still able to fulfill the obligation, and do not be negligent or careless.
As for the wife, we say to her: Be patient and seek reward from Allah Mighty and Majestic. Know that the permanence of a state is impossible, and that a person's circumstances may change. Ask Allah for guidance for your husband so that he may fulfill his duty toward you. Yes.
